Growing old well
I recently watched an interview with Keith Richards, the guitarist of the band The Rolling Stones.
At 82 he is still a rockstar, jumping around the stage at his live shows. That fact alone is very inspiring.
Is it possible to be 82 and not a frail, old man?
What really stood out to me is his attitude. I would describe it as witty, smart, charming, humorous, laid back, confident.
In one word: happy.
This stands in stark contrast to the typical image we have of an 82-year-old: weak, bitter, resentful.
I notice that many smart people of mature age have this in common: a light, humorous attitude to life.
It seems that the secret to aging well is to not take life too seriously. Navigate calmly and enjoy the ride.
